Go Wildcats!

This past weekend my husband and I joined several of his siblings, their wife and/or date, and a couple friends to attend the U of A vs. ASU game in Tempe.  Half of us were cheering for the right team and the other half chose ASU.

I must say, it has been awhile since I have attended a college event and came to the realization that I am old.  All around us were half naked, drunk college kids.  I felt like we stepped into Sodom and Gomorrah.  In the section we were assigned there was a rather drunk girl from ASU sitting right in front of us.  She spent the entire time turning around and yelling obscenities at the U of A fans and passing jello shots out of her purse.  At some point during the second quarter she started making out with her girlfriend and we went to find seats on the other side of the stadium where we were able to watch and enjoy the game in peace.  I was a bit surprised to find that parents had their children at the game.  There is no way I would want my young children exposed to such filth.  They are so impressionable at this age and the sooner and more often children are exposed to such immorality, the more desensitized and accepting of it they become.  Why, as a parent, would you choose that?

After the game, we decided to walk down Mill St. to grab a bite to eat, since there was no movement of cars out of the garage.  As we exited the garage, we passed by a guy peeing off one of the levels and had to steer clear as to not get hit.  And if I thought the stadium was bad, Mill was worse by far.  We ended up just turning around and going back because I felt like my 16 year old sister-in-law and her friend were getting too much of an education.  It was a bit humorous, though, as random guys kept coming up to RJ to give him a high five since he was wearing a U of A shirt.

The experience made me greatly question whether or not I could get away with homeschooling my children through college, because honestly, the "real" world scares me.  It saddens me that there is so much iniquity in the world.  I don't want my children to be exposed to that.  And I know it will only continue to get worse.
