Harlem Wizards and WordMasters

Raena and DP
Last Saturday Raena got to go on a Daddy-daughter date to see the Harlem Wizards.  They came to her school and played against the teachers as a fundraiser.  Raena was super excited to go and talked about it for several days afterwards.  She was able to have all the players sign the ball she is holding and is now excited about playing basketball.  RJ had good time as well and probably talked about it as much as Raena.  If they come again next year, we plan on going.  This year the game started at bedtime, if that's the same next year, then we may have to get a sitter for the younger two, or it will be a good time for RJ to spend with his older girls.

Raena also placed well in the WordMasters Challenge at her school--only missing one problem.  The WordMasters Challenge is a national competition which encourages growth in vocabulary and verbal reasoning by having students solve analogy problems using higher level vocabulary words.  For example: Tide:Ebb::Moon:____________ (flow/shine/wane). Her class is preparing for the follow up meet that takes place in February and then the final meet will be in April.  The top 10 students in the school get an award and the top 200 nationwide are recognized.  She is very excited for this, so we are cheering her on.
